Scott's Fountains has today announced its musical program for its upcoming Fountains and Fireworks Spectacular, which will be held on Friday 28 August 2009. The 2009 show features an extensive array of nine songs, divided into two separate acts.
The performance will start with a bang with the Disney hit "Circle of Life," the leading piece from the 1994 movie "The Lion King," and for this performance, the 1997 Broadway production of the same name. Additionally, the first set includes "Sakura (Cherry Blossoms)" and "Celtic Air and Dance," two new numbers originating from band concerts in which the owner performed this past school year. The live recording of the latter was personally captured by Scott Hummel Productions, and will have its official recording premiere during the display. Rounding out the act will be Emerson, Lake, and Powell's "The Score," a nine-minute epic from the 2007 presentation.
Opening the second act will be the returning classic "Fanfare for the Common Man," a majestic song returning from 2007 and 2008, along with Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger," instantly recognizable from the "Rocky" film series and the most recent show. "Pirates of the Caribbean" fans should know the seventh number as the theme to "The Black Pearl." This is the second "Pirates" score piece in a Scott's Fountains show, the other being "Up is Down."
In traditional grand fashion, the 2009 Spectacular is scheduled to close with the John Philip Sousa march "Stars and Stripes Forever." It has been the closing number since 2007.
This is the third annual Fountains and Fireworks Spectacular for Scott's Fountains and its crew. The summer show began in 2006 just as a driveway fireworks display. Fountains were added when the show moved into the Hummel family back yard the following season. More information about Scott's Fountains and its performances can be found at www.scottsfountains.info
